Urban Studies Foundation Seminar Series 2025
SS25 AI4UG
Support for Early Career Researchers (ECR)

The USF SS25.AI4UG has been designed to incorporate modules of research development for ECRs who will benefit from the projects principle of coproducing this agenda with urban stakeholders.

ECRs are a key part of the project. Their input and the possibility of developing new skills that will evolve further in the future towards new research ideas is both exciting and challenging.

ECRs will be able to apply (for the events in their country of residence) to a small SS25.AI4UG fund of up to GBP120 to co-fund their participation. Each training event [T1], [T2] and [T3] will have a competitive call to select up to 10 ECRs.

In this page you can find the details about the participation of ECRs in the SS25.AI4UG.

What definition of ECR is used in the SS25.AI4UG

We will follow teh UKRI definition of an ECR:

"When we provide information to help the development of early career researchers, we are speaking to anyone who defines their role as that of an ECR. We do not consider years post-PhD or job title to be a sole marker of career progression. Therefore, we use the narrative CV (‘Resume for Research and Innovation’) in our funding opportunities to enable applicants to describe their careers and experience."

UKRI: Early career researchers: career and skills development

In what events will ECRs participate in

ECRs are expected to fully participate in both the training sessions [Tx] and in seminars [Sx] that take place before them We want to give ECRs a central role in designing this coproduced agenda, bringing new perspectives on the relevance fields, topics and methods in this space.
